FAQ

Questions about Dentures

Do I need a referral to see a Denturist?
You do not need a referral to see a Denturist. To schedule a free consultation, simply call our office or drop by. We'll be happy to discuss a treatment plan for you that will best suit your needs. If it's a repair or reline you require, these can often be completed on the same day.

Why did my Dentist refer me to a Denturist?
Many Dentists refer patients to our clinic because we specialize in the design and fabrication of removable complete and partial dentures. Our on-site lab allows us to provide patients with a fast, convenient option to achieve their denture care.

How long will it take to make my dentures?
Patient satisfaction is our top priority with every treatment. The process of fabricating a new denture can range from between a few weeks to a month. This ensures a proper fit, aesthetic, and function of your new denture. As well, we encourage follow up appointments for any adjustments that may be needed.

How much will new dentures cost?
Our fees are guided by the fees set out by the Denturist Association of Ontario. After discussing all denture options available to you, to provide you with the results you are hoping for, we'll discuss the fees that pertain to each option. We'll give you the information you require to make an educated decision on the treatment plan that best suits your needs.

Do you accept all insurance plans?
Once you've decided on the treatment you may want to proceed with, we will be happy to send a 'no obligation' pre-treatment estimate request to your insurance provider. Your insurer will send you a written estimate of the portion of the fee they will be willing to cover. Most insurers will allow us to bill the insurance portion directly to them and this will result in less of the fee coming directly from you.

How well will I be able to eat with my new dentures?
While dentures are designed to replace natural dentition, it takes time and patience to learn to chew properly with them. It will take time for your mouth to get used to the fit of your new dentures. Patience and practise are important keys to success here. Dentures do have their own limitations, however, they cannot completely replace the efficiency of natural dentition. While the successful outcome of conventional dentures is proven and true, this may be further improved by the utilization of implants with dentures.

Why do I need a regular check-up for my dentures?
We encourage check-ups on an annual basis for many reasons. It is important to check for any change in the condition of your gums. During your visit, our team will check for any intra-oral irregularities as well as check the status of your dentures. We'll check the fit of your dentures and adjust them accordingly. If there are concerns regarding your dentures that you want to discuss, we'll be happy to advise you on any recommendations we can provide.

How often do I have to replace my dentures?
Conventional dentures typically should be replaced every 5 years. However, this depends on several factors, such as maintenance of the denture, gum resorption and loss of additional teeth. Your annual check up assists with the function and longevity of your denture.
